The first graders have been working on an exciting project for the holiday season!🤩 Our firsties are participating in a nationwide gingerbread men exchange. We have been creating gingerbread with a letter about our school and state. We are sending one to a school in each state in the US, plus Washington D.C. We have already received some gingerbread from other states! We will do updates every few days with one fact they included about their state.
Iowa: State flower is a wild rose.
Kentucky: State animal is a gray squirrel.
Massachusetts: Basketball was invented in Massachussets in 1891.
New York: New York is full of tall, shiny buildings, big forests, and beautiful lakes.
Wyoming: Wyoming is known for their oil, coal, and trona mining. Trona is used for laundry detergents, baking soda, glass, and paper!
Pennsylvania: Punxsutawney is a small town in Pennsylvania that celebrates Groundhog Day in February.

What a day! A HUGE thank you to Pender Student Council, Pender Betterment Group, Pender FFA, and Joe and Susan Strahm for decorating the park this afternoon! Another BIG thank you to everyone in the community that donated lights. This wouldn't have been possible without those donations. We had a great turnout for our lighting ceremony tonight. Thank you to everyone that made it!🎄
We hope this is a new tradition we can start for years to come!

Sharing our gratefulness for Prairie Breeze today! Fourth grade sure enjoyed decorating turkey disguises with the residents. Happy Thanksgiving!
