Our main focus is designing, implementing, and refining highly specific positive behavioral intervention plans using strategies designed to reduce inappropriate behavior while enhancing adaptive skills. We educate and train the people who work with students who have behavioral needs. We network with students' educational personnel to provide a consistent and comprehensive approach to create lasting behavioral change. Further, we include parent training as an essential component of ABA services to ensure long-term outcomes are met and learned skills are maintained in multiple settings.
A Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) assesses current academic, communication, and behavioral needs. That information is used to set goals and create an individualized program for each student following the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
The Lead Teacher and Registered Behavior Technicians (RBT’s) work to build positive relationships with our students. Then they use evidence-based teaching strategies to help our students build new skills. During each teaching session and throughout the day, data is collected on skill acquisition and problem behaviors. The entire team meets weekly to analyze data and make programming decisions.
Students at Pendragon Academy have more opportunities to interact with peers and generalize skills in a natural setting because the program is located in a public school setting. This allows students to generalized mastered skills in other settings and promotes independence while developing social connections with other students. Our RBT’s will accompany students to specials, lunch, recess, and on field trips as needed for their success.
