CELL PHONE POLICY CLARIFICATION

After lengthy discussion between the Pender Public School administrative team and staff, the following is a clarification to our "Possession and Use of Electronic Devices Policy" which appears on pages 44-45 in the 2009-2010 7-12 Parent/Student Handbook:

Cell phone use continues to be strictly prohibited during class time. Students may have a phone in their possession in class, however it must be off.  Teachers may request that students keep their phones in pockets, on the corner of their desk, or perhaps on a back table or in a basket, whichever the teacher prefers.  No electronic devices are to be used in restrooms or locker rooms.  The sending, sharing, viewing or possessing of pictures, text messages, e-mails or other material of a sexual nature in electronic form or other form on a computer, cell phone, or other electronic device is strictly prohibited.  By bringing cell phones or other electronic devices to school, the student and parent consent to the search of the device when school officials have reasonable suspicion that such a search will reveal a violation of school rules. Cell phone use is allowed between classes, at lunch, and before/after school.

If you have any questions please feel free to contact Kelly Ballinger, 7-12 Principal at 385-3244 x 106.
