by Shane Carrender

Preschool teacher Mrs. Dawn Goodman

We asked her questions about her students here at Pender Public School.

How many students do you have? 52

How old are most of your students? 3, 4, and 5

Have you gone on any field trips? Nature Walks since they would all need car seats field trips are not very feasible now.

What activities do the kids do during the day? Independent choice time, computers, writing, music, puzzles, cooking, library, PE, and painting.

What art projects have they done this year? We do a project every week that correlates to our letter of the week. Like apples, beans, rabbits, and sunflowers.

What kinds of things have they done this year? We have learn all of our ABCs; we learn to recognize them, we have learned what sounds the letters make, and also how to use sign language. we start putting sounds together to make words. We have learned how to count and recognize numbers. We learn skills such as following directions, listening, sharing, and obeying.

Why do you like teaching this class? I love the little ones. They are so eager to learn. I really enjoy seeing them become independent and get ready for kindergarten. I love doing all the hands on projects with them and stimulating their thinking process. In the spring we generally have a few that begin reading in the "Dick and Jane" books. That is so exciting for both them and myself!
