by Rachel Verschoor

Recently, two students from Pender High were selected into the National FFA Chorus, Talent Show, and Band. Those two students are Jacob Lamplot and Rochelle Calderon. Jacob, a senior, was selected into the National FFA Band, along with five other students from Nebraska and 95 other students from across the United States. Rochelle, a junior, was selected into the Nationall FFA Chorus and Talent Show, which are two different events. She was among 17 students from Nebraska and 94 students from across the United States selected into the Chorus and one of the two students from Nebraska and one of the 61 students total to be selected into the talent show. Having to choose between the chorus and the talent show, she chose the talent show. In the talent show, she will perform a total of 10 songs, with her parents, Kandi and Armando Ambriz, as her entourage. In order to get into these events, Jacob and Rochelle had to send in a taped audition by June 1st. They will perform in Indianapolis, Indiana during the 81st National Convention, during pre-sessions, as evening concerts, during special banquets, and during meal functions.
