DEJA VU AND HEARTBREAK

Subdistrict Results: B-R and Omaha Nation

On February 19 and 21, the Pendragons headed to Norfolk Catholic for sub-district action against the Bancroft-Rosalie Panthers and the Omaha (Umon Hon) Nation Chiefs. The Dragons avenged their overtime loss with an overtime win over the Panthers by a score of 59-55 but fell just short to the Chiefs, 59-62. Pender closes their season 12-12.

Against the Panthers, the leading scorers were Matt S. and Connor H. with 14 points. Leading rebounder was Josh B. with 16 boards. Along with the rebounds, Josh B. had 11 points, giving him a double-double. The assist leader was Connor H. with five. Defensively, Josh B. had two blocks and the Smith brothers had two steals each. From the line, the Dragons went 16-30. To put the game into overtime, Chris Schrieber had the shot of the year with a 26 foot, banked three pointer with roughly 30 seconds left to tie the game.

Against the Chiefs, the leading scorer for Pender was Connor H. with 26 points with eight threes. Eric D. was the second leading scorer with 17. Rebound leader was Josh B. with 12 and added 11 points to that to give him another double-double. Matt S. led the assist category with six. On defense, Josh B. had two blocks and Matt S. had three steals. The Dragons hit only 5-14 from the charity stripe.
