KIDS SLEEP IN, STAFF REPORTS IN
Teacher Work Day
by Matthew Hansen
On January 28, the elementary students were given a chance to sleep in on a Monday. However, the teachers weren't allowed this luxury. Monday was an elementary teacher workday.
The teachers spent their day working on a progress monitoring program called AIMSweb. Students in kindergarten through eighth grade in Pender Public Schools completed winter bench-marking on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. This gives teachers and staff a snapshot of their math, spelling. reading fluency, reading comprehension, and also writing skills. This helps teachers in their intervention planning.
Result will be shared with parents of the student body during the Spring parent-teacher conferences. Students test once every fall, winter, and spring.
