DUO HEAD TO CRETE

by Adam Pearson

Staying on campus, eating college lunch, watching college choirs perform gives one just a glimpse of future college life. Luckily, for two Pender students, pushed aside were the tests, homework, and other events for a couple days.

On January 13 and 14, Doane College  hosted an honor choir. Many applicants were submitted, and only about 180 were chosen. Those chosen received the opportunity to observe Doane College as a possibility for a future destination. For Pender, Kelly Webster and Adam Pearson were chosen. The two departed for Pender on January 13 at 10 am. Students had to be registered by 2:30. The rest of the night consisted of two rehearsals, a concert hour, and a dance. Students were placed in dorms with Doane College students for the night.

The next morning held a few more rehearsals and a final concert at 7 pm. The concert consisted of 5 selected soloists, the Doane College Choir, and the Doane Honor Choir. Selections sung by the Doane Honor Choir were, "Let Thy Hand Be Strengthened," "Think on Me," "If Music Be The Food Of Love," and "Let Everything That Hath Breath."

Up next for Pender's music department is Kearney Honor Choir on January 27 and 28, Wayne Honor Choir the first Friday in February, and the Musical in March.
