Alumni Questions
What were some of the classes that you took in high school?
I took accounting with Mr. Norman and all the other normal high school classes. My favorite was probably Art with Mrs. Thieman. I am sure Glen Koski and I were the best art students she has ever had. I just haven't been able to get her to confirm that.
What were the sports/activities like during your high school career?
Our sports, vocal, and band activities were very active and successful. I was in a class of 61 students, so there were more students to participate in things. Football, Boys and Girls Basketball, and Wrestling were all ranked in the top 10 through the year. Girls sports were fairly new and getting a good start.
What advice would you give to the upcoming class of 2008?
Make good memories during your senior year, go into the world and meet new friends, visit new places, and then, come back home to raise your family in Pender. You will learn that this is a great place to live.
Do you have any special memories regarding what was happening historically during that time?
Other than leisure suits and platform shoes, I only remember the class of '78 being the best class ever to come out of Pender Public schools. This can be verified by Mr. Norman on a good day. Some days his memory isn't so good.
Do you have any special memories you would like to share about your days at PHS?
In one week's time, the Boys basketball team beat #1 Lyons, a high ranked Walthill, the Girls team beat a high ranked Walthill, and the Wrestling team beat #1 Tekamah and #2 North Bend. The Norfolk paper's sports section said "Dragons Roll".
