by Daniel Kent

On October 25, the Pender Dragon football season came to an end in Elmwood with a 42-14 loss to the Knights.

On offense, the Dragons looked to the air against the Knights. Joey G. completed 7-15 and Jon Smith completed 2-2, putting up 172 yards together. Leading receiver was Jordan N. with two catches for 74 yards and one touchdown coming on a 67 yard reception. Grant F. came in second with 2 catches for 31 yards and Chris S. caught one 21 yard touchdown.

On defense, the Dragons were led in tackling by Matt S., who had 10 solos and one assisted tackle. Brant W. surprisingly came in second with eight solos and three assisted tackles and Grant F. threw down eight people himself and helped on two others. The thief of the week was Nick C. with one fumble recovery.

On special teams, punter Bret M. booted the ball five times for 146 yards. Returning E-M kicks was Jordan N. with five returns for 77 yards.

This season was the best Pender has had in four years and the team would like to say thank you to all the parents, students, and the fans for making the long trips and cheering your hearts out every time the Dragons stepped out onto the field.
