Dragons Improve To 5-1 After Shut-out

The Pender football squad improves to 5-1 after downing the Emerson-Hubbard Pirates 35-0 on October 5.
The Dragon offense was all about the ground game against the Pirates, totaling 210 yards on 29 attempts. Matt S. led in rushing with 148 yards on 13 carries and scored two touchdowns. Also contributing were Bret M., who is back from injury, with five carries for 33 yards and one touchdown, Brant Peters with five carries for 29 yards and Connor H. with one touchdown from one yard out. Not much is to be said about the passing game for the Dragons. Leading receiver was Jared J. with two grabs for 32 yards and one touchdown.
The Dragon "D" proved tough against E-H. Leading tackler was again, Brant W. with 11 solos and five assisted tackles. Brenn Kai came in second with eight solos and three assisted and Robert D. took third with six solos and four assisted tackles. The leading thief against the Pirates was Grant F. with one interception and one fumble recovery. Blake Kai and Brant W. also had one fumble recovery.
On special teams, Bret M. and Matt S. put five punts together for 146 yards. Returning punts was Grant F. with four returns for 57 yards. On kick off, Daniel K. booted the ball seven times for 315 yards.
The Dragons next opponent is the Wakefield Trojans. The Trojans bring in a 19-game win streak and a number one ranking. The Pender football team is looking for all the support they can get for this homecoming game!
