GUTEN TAG FROM GERMANY!
by Adam Pearson
This year at Pender we are fortunate to have a foreign exchange student with us. Sandra Droessigk is a junior from Germany. She's living with the Potter family. I sat down and asked her a few questions to get to know a little more about her and life in Germany.
What was something you noticed first when you saw the community
of Pender?
- It's very quiet, and small!
What's one thing you would like to do here in the United
States before you leave?
-Visit LA.
How is school different than in Germany?
-We dress up to school everyday.
What do high school students in Germany do on the weekends for
fun?
-Throw and go to parties. Kids in Germany have more political
freedom.
What are some cool places to visit in Germany?
-The capital, Berlin. Munich holds Oktoberfest every year. This would be the first year Sandra would be able to go.
Do a lot of kids in Germany have jobs? If so what kinds are there?
A lot of my friends in Germany work at a disco. They make $50-60 a night.
What are some of your popular artists you listen to in
Germany?
-The Beat Steaks is a popular band in Germany. We also listen to a
lot of American bands.
Thanks for coming to Pender, Sandra. We hope you enjoy your year at PPS.
