Good afternoon. This is Jason Dolliver, the Superintendent of Pender Public Schools. This message is intended for families that utilize bussing services. The recent flooding has created the need to alter our bus routes. The east route (Denny’s Route) has the following changes. The first stop will now be Thurston, which used to be the 3rd stop. In other words, that stop will happen 10 to 15 minutes earlier than normal. All stops after Thurston will be 10 to 15 minutes earlier than normal as a result. Please make plans to accommodate these changes. Scott Pfeiffer, Pender’s Transportation Coordinator, will call the first two stops (Krueger & Walker) to discuss the plan for these families. The west route (Nadine’s Route) is going to be difficult to judge. Riders are asked to be ready 10 minutes prior to your scheduled time, but know, your pickup may be as much as 10 minutes later than normal. Your pick up times will gain consistency every day. Scott Pfeiffer will be in contact with a few families with some special circumstances. Your patience and understanding is vital, and it is also greatly appreciated. Mother nature threw us a curve ball and we are doing our best to adjust. Feel free to contact Scott, your bus driver, or me if you have any questions or concerns.
Congratulations to Ashley Ostrand for being selected to East Husker Conference Girls Basketball 2nd Team!
Congratulations to Sam Mailloux for being voted to the East Husker Conference All-Conference 2nd Team.

Pender Public Schools will be closed Friday, March 15.
Due to the closure of Pender Public Schools we will also be cancelling the Junior High Music Concert tomorrow night.
Pender Public Schools schools will be closed on Thursday, March 14.
Pender Public Schools will close at noon. Parents (or family members) of students that live outside of Pender are encouraged to pick up their children as soon as possible. Busses will NOT run.
Good morning, this is Jason Dolliver the Superintendent of Pender Public Schools. As you likely know, the highways and roads in the Pender Public School District are experiencing a lot of water related issues. There are a lot of places where water has flooded roads, and there are lots of places that are very muddy. These issues and others are making travel very difficult. The forecast is calling for quite a bit more rain and some snow over the next 24 - 36 hours. Snow that fell throughout the winter will also continue to melt. In other words, the road conditions likely won’t improve throughout the course of the day. All PPS students are accounted for, meaning they are either here or at home with their family. That said, families are encouraged to do what they feel is best for their specific situation. Families that feel it is best to get their children home now should do so. Those that are comfortable leaving them in school throughout the day should do so. Again, families should make decisions based on what is best for their specific situation. Travel at the end of the school day could be very difficult or even impossible for busses. It may be necessary for parents of students that ride the bus to pick up their children from school rather than sending them home via bus. As the day progresses, PPS personnel will communicate with families that utilize bussing services. Parents and family members should start to plan now for end of the school day transportation. This is a very unique weather event, and I apologize for any inconveniences that are happening as a result. PPS will continue to do everything possible to keep all students safe. As of right now, school will be dismissed as planned at 2:30 pm. If that changes, you will be notified immediately. Feel free to contact school personnel if you have any questions, concerns, or requests. Thanks and have a great day!

We're breaking out the DRAGON'S DEN tonight! The south east corner of the gym will be reserved for our students (look for the sign). We are asking that if students are in the building for a basketball game that they be 1 - in the gym with parents, 2 - in the GBB Pendragon Zone (behind the bench, learning the game, supporting the team), or 3 - in the Dragon's Den with their friends cheering on the Pendragons! This means they should not be in the old gym, wrestling room, Ag wing, high school building or running the halls. If parents allow their children to go outside (on to the playground), that is fine, but students need to exit and reenter through door 1. We are planning special theme nights for our students as well as other fun activities. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe during home events! Go Big Red!!
Don't miss out on Pender's Sounds of the Season Sunday, December 16th. Only limited amount of tickets remain. Get yours today at the school office.

PPS will be conducting an evacuation drill followed by a reunification drill on Friday, August 31. The evacuation drill will begin at 1:30 pm, and the reunification drill will begin at approximately 3:00 pm. If all students arrive at the reunification site, which is the Pender Community Center, prior to 3:00 pm, the reunification drill will begin at that point in time. In other words, if all students arrive at the Pender Community Center by 2:30 pm, and staff is ready for the reunification process to begin, we will begin at 2:30 pm. If reunification is able to begin before 3:00 pm, a message using this system will be sent to everyone registered in this system. Parents and/or family members that are able to get to the Community Center early will be able to start the process upon arrival. Those that are NOT able to get to the Community Center early will simply begin reunification when they arrive. No one is expected to change plans if we are able to start early. PPS simply wants to make starting early an option for those that can make it IF it is possible to start reunification before 3:00 pm. We would like to be as efficient and effective as possible while conducting these drills. This is one way in which we can make that happen. As a reminder, your patience, understanding, and cooperation are very important and greatly appreciated during the reunification drill. All PPS staff members will do their absolute best on Friday to make the experience positive and as smooth as possible. It's a Great Day to be a Pendragon!

Once again, the Pender Pendragons have been co-oped with the Wisner-Pilger Lady Gators for softball. The team contest of 3 seniors, 3 juniors, 3 sophomores 10 freshmen (4 from Pender), 6 student managers (2 from Pender), and 6 Coaches (Karrie Bodwell, Duane Mendlik, Samantha Johnson, Ronda Ras, Rebecca Fischer, and Eric Miller). Here is an overall outlook for this year’s softball season from Coach Samantha Johnson. This season will look to be a growing season in most aspects. We are a young team with half of our roster being Freshman. We had a couple spots to fill with graduating seniors as well as injuries. The younger girls have had to step up in more ways than one to fill those holes. The girls will face a lot of good competition over the season. Most of the teams we get to play are teams that made it to the State Tournament last year and always have strong programs. We hope to grow to be that caliber of the team throughout the season and play every game to the best of our ability. The future is very bright for our program!
After battling from a 3 run deficit, WPPBR softball loses a 4-3 heartbreaker in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Football By: Vanessa and Sam The Pendragon football team coached by Andy Welsh has 20 members on the team. Seven seniors, five juniors, 4 sophomores, and four freshmen are off to a one and one start this season. The team also consists of two other coaches Brock Simonsen and Matt Heineman. The student managers this year are Reece Heineman, Logan Harral, Tayt Welsh, and Andrew Duncan. We talked to the coach Andy Welsh about what he thinks the season should pertain. Welsh said, “We have the potential to play with anyone in the state because of our athleticism and our upperclassmen lead team, but with that we need to play our best game to win any game this season.” Welsh also talked about the post season time where he said, “We should definitely be a playoff football team and we have a team that should be able to advance in the playoffs for the first time in several years.” We should all look forward to the season and our football team.
Reminder, school will be dismissed at 2:30 today. AM and PM PK will have a normal day and dismiss at the normal times. Have a great day!
